That looks suspiciously like a half cage to me...
Hmm...

According to BOMs Facebook page this cage was in Binky for fitment testing purposes. It was meant for another Mini. We'll see. :)
I was chatting with a friend and we are a bit afraid that next episode will be 30 minutes of work being done with nice brand new (highly visibly branded) machines and if we are lucky we'll catch a short partial glimpse of Binky.

I can understand your fears, but even if you are right, I cannot fault the guys from doing that, it is an expensive business even rebuilding your car after a Rally (lada challenge: don't ask!), but to attempt the work being undertaken here will cost a lot of spondulies. Don't get me wrong, I love the garden shed style engineering solutions that have been applied to all of the machinery; I think it's brilliant, but I also want to see this finished so if they have to do a little prominent product placement then so be it.

Don't misunderstand me Ace Rimmer, I am not faulting the guys. We are only now reaching the point where the project will start to become really expensive and there is a shedload of work left. So far (apart from body parts) most parts have come from the junkyard, now they are going have to start purchasing lots and lots of new parts and not the cheap ones. Sponsorship is a must if they are ever going to finish this. But I have been sponsored, sponsors are relentless when it comes to pushing you to promote their products. Now the Patreon list at the end of the video is running for more than a minute and those bloody Patreons charge me local sales tax for sponsoring, the Queen will probably tax it too. I know how much rallying costs, not just rebuilding your car, but racing fees, fuel, food and travel costs for the whole crew.
Also, Binky has now been ongoing project for more than 3 years and the end is still not in sight, it has been consuming time, energy and money, they must be running out of steam and goodwill of their families.
I still reserve the right to complain if the product placement becomes excessive. :)

Please don't worry about product placement. We're simply going to be using the tools provided, not shoving them down anyone's throat. No change to anything we've been doing at all.
The cage is for another Mini that's in the shed being built for road rallying. It's not going in Binky. It is nice to know however, that should we decide for whatever reason that a cage is necessary, the Safety Devices cage fits straight in!
Yes this project is massively expensive and it's going to get even more so, so we're incredibly grateful for all our Patrons who are literally making this thing happen.

A friend once told me ( as he was rebuilding/modifying his Aerobatic Biplane, "N540BE The Blue Eagle")
"The first 90% of the project takes 10% of the time, the last 10% takes 90%."
Nik and Richard have done quite well considering its done on weekends only.

Andsetinn, like you I'm really looking forward to seeing Binky trundling around on its first test session but I do agree there is going to be a lot of money spent to get there.
Hell of a project though and I'm delighted the fellas have decided to share it with us all.
As as for transport costs, you are not kidding - once drove back from Croft Rally cross circuit in our busted lada after an incident with a tree on the 1989 Christmas stages, with a steering arm so short after a snap (did I mention it was a BIG tree) that both wheels were at least 30 degrees out of parallel. Drove like that all the way to near hull with my door (I was navigating that day) held on with tie wraps and black bodge tape (duct tape). We drove back because we could not afford to transport it any other way.

Not that I want to be whining but can we get something to watch until E14 is out? Even if it is just outtakes or extended (director's cuts) of E1-E13? :)
Your sponsors would like more exposure for their products (they always do), director's cut could include more information about your tools. :)

I'm with you all on this one, I'm just pathetically grateful that the fellas are documenting their obsession to share with us and the quality of both the build and production sets this so far apart from anything else on YouTube. gben, Hi I am also in the "colonies", California. I saw your earlier post where you mentioned vision trouble, I assumed you are using a desktop PC. If so, the tricks I mentioned will work, I use them where I work to zoom in on wiring diagrams, etc. without messing up the text size for other users. (my eyes have also seen better days!) If you are the only user and you have a high resolution monitor, changing to a lesser resolution may help increase overall readability. Especially if you only use it for surfing and email.

No we didn't, we made a buck or plug for the arches so we can make a mould and then produce the final version out of something else providing we're happy with the look once they're painted.
So,,,. When can we expect Episode 14 and what will be in it?
It's OK, you can tell us, we promise not to tell anyone.
