Most of the things on my imaginary to-do list come with the engine (mounting a turbo, air filter, starter, alternator, fan, maybe TVIS, maybe power steering, oil sump, etc) or near the end of the build (glass and wipers, carpeting, paint).
There's a bunch of cabin stuff to do (gauges, interior lights, sound system, sundry controls like the turn signal and wiper stalks, etc.), but it seems like they'd do that after the engine, so the welder doesn't accidentally ruin the electronics.
I can't think of much more fabrication work: just the back seats and seat belts, final wheels, final wheel arches, and wing mirrors. Maybe heating/ventilation ducts. The other fabrication (exhaust maniford and oil sump) will probably wait for a turbo.
So my guess is... something that I didn't hadn't even thought of.

I expect the wiring will take them a while to sort out. Due to needing access holes, and to fix it to the body, this will have to be done before painting

Sound deadening and realising you need clearance for the exhaust, around the sump.
battery goes in the foot well.
Wiring that's not nearly as bad as a bowl of spaghetti.
Windows? Glass or Lexan?
Speakers??? Radio? for the emergency services to warn of this beast.
Heater what do you mean? just stick a hose from the engine bay, its bloody hot enough! + engine smells. :)

Do you think a dry-sump could be a possibility? Or is there not enough room for the pumps beside the block? I've found a couple companies in the UK that have dry-sump "kits" for this engine.

I can't begin to tell you how busy we are with 'normal' work and commitments. Ep 16 is coming, no idea when yet though. There's some serious conundrums to work through, some more pipe bending, the use of a lovely Mercedes OEM part to solve one problem and some other stuff too.

watched "CARS THAT ROCK" w Brian Johnson frm AC/DC he had a father /son team from Italy that put a V-12 from a Murcialago (Lamborgini) into a Fiat Cincuacento (500) into the back seat..... it was very beautiful they did a great wide-body in all metal . and it was "FAST"!!!!!!!

Ok. So here is what I am thinking. If BOM would make monthly 10 minute episodes, and then quarterly 3 episodes combined into one "director's cut". It would show us more of the dead ends that the design goes into and probably be more interesting. It takes about a day to record 10 minute episode, 2 days if there are lot of tea breaks so everyone should be happy. Right?

hi andsetinn , all that would be good if binky was the only thing they are doing but I think we are forgetting that the guys are also trying to run a business so they can pay for the binky project .
whatever they are doing will be done right and well thought out .
next project I thing so they have more room to put stuff austin maxi with Subaru / mitsubushi running gear .

Here's the thing, we've had a nightmare with the car this last couple of months. Working through some fiddly issues that have pissed away day after day and not got us anywhere. We're trying our best to get it out as soon as possible but day job is also getting in the way. The edit of what we've got so far has been started, so we're definitely getting closer. Sorry.

The workshop can be a sanctuary from the monotonous employment necessities. Maybe it might be time to invest in a time lapse camera pointed at a couple of corners in the workshop. I am willing to watch you pick your nose and eat it. (In time lapse, no one can hear you scream.) As well as see the mistakes and reality of doing something no one else has ever done. I also understand that investing more time in anything that includes the labor intensive JOB of editing any video is probably not in the cards either. It just would be nice to see something even if it is 10 steps back...

Like everyone else, I'm desperately keen to see the next episode. I do wonder, though, if a lot of time is dedicated to the slickness of the show rather than the work on the car, and I don't just mean the significant amount of time and effort taken for editing. The out-takes video makes it look like you spend a lot of time refilming a lot to get it just right. I get that with the jokes - timing is everything - but I'd be happy to see less polished performances. I don't care about someone hesitating, getting tongue tied or not using the very best description of what they're doing; I think an "au naturelle" approach would work just as well for you two - the engineering and craftmanship would not suffer (it'd probably benefit), and you guys have enough humour and character to come over well without nailing the script perfectly. That's not to say I don't appreciate the effort you put in, just that I think you worry needlessly about making the videos too polished.

Not really. The pieces to camera aren't scripted at all, it's just a question of nailing what we're trying to explain without making less sense than normal. The filming takes a lot of time, but the "slickness" doesn't really effect it. The time just disappears when you're stuck in a corner trying to think of a way to fix something, then making it. Then life and jobs get in the way too. Plus, you may have noticed, but we don't really like just nailing something together. Whether it's the car or the video production, we strive to do the best we can and improve all the time. The extra effort involved had no real effect on the time taken to be honest, it might save us a couple of days, but it's not worth the sacrifice to us.

It's a great job you guys are putting up here and I'm really looking forward to see it when it's completed! I'm impressed that you managed to produce this many episodes in such a short time considering the engineering you put into this project (can't wait till you must wrestle with the electrics)!
Hope you keep the fire up and let the new episodes come out soon, but please, don't rush it just because everyone being inpatient (including me). The best result isn't produced in a rush :)

Since the guys are mostly working by themselves on the project, we just have to stick to rule one. Otherwise they would have to hire a bunch of mechanics and that is just not in the project budget. The whole thing is a good chance to lean back and learn how to be patient.

I do think there is a possibility that it could happen. however i feel it might be just be precaution to fit the sump. very closely. some heat protection might be required.
Also if that is the case removing the sump in the car to quickly check bearings is going to be an utter pain.
