Boys.. I feel for ya... My Black 2.0L 6sp Mini project has halted for a few months.. but about to start again.. ( was trying to finish it for HAY [see below] - but no chance )
But my classic STOCK original yellow clubman 1979 mini got in the way... it was about to dissolve in rust..
Needed a quick RESTO.. ( basically practicing / honing my skills for the black beast )... 2 1/2 months of every waking hour - 90% back to bare metal - Sand blasted engine bay and sub frames... and floor.. and paint stripper, sander.. etc etc etc..
I saved a classic.
THANK GOD for binky episode 8 especially .... skinned and put the bar in the door.. could / WOULD NOT have attempted it without the guidance of the boys - EVEN looked up and installed DynaMat .. GREAT WORK GUYS..
Finished it just in time .... well no interior light .. and a few cable ties .. no test run.... was still bleeding the clutch as it went onto the trailer .. took it 800kms - to the 2nd Longest running motor sport event in Australia .. and RACED IT..
The Hay Mini Nationals.. ( Hay is a small town in the middle of the 3 capitals..google map it... and 11 kms north east off the town is a mini on a pole .. find it on google earth street view ) and this year was the 50th
The car got fastest ROOKIE - :)... stock 1098cc - 145x10 tyres, hehehehe.
SERIOUSLY.. REALLY... THANK YOU !!!.. it was a step by step guide to restore and make safer my mini - daily drive - almost 40yo mini
NOTE.. The Binky Mug DOWNUNDER - I dropped the mug, BUT lucky I saw the youtube video on how to fix it.
MiniMan. P.S. Aussie Viewers.. NOTE... ENGLISH CLUBMAN.. not Aussie Made.. I have not seen another Sedan.. only 1 van.
P.P.S Got 3rd at the English Car Show last week - orginal clubman. :)

Anyone spotted the footprints of Episode 16 yet?
Received patreon message on 6th, the next episode is coming in a few weeks!!!!!
I'll presume they have started editing of the coming episode, very excited to find out what is the "nightmare problem" took them seems like a "eternity" so sort out! But also a bit scared that they've mentioned "everything may have to change", I certainly hope it is changing towards a good way.
But, seriously, with this level of awesomeness, no problem won't get crashed!

I reckon it must be time to start re-watching previous episodes to get back up to speed with the plot line before likely imminent release of EP 16!?!#
Hey BOM you could delay EP16 a little and do a "previously on Project Binky..." leader into the main event?
:)

The list of OEM manufacturers parts already on the car goes something like this:

With more to come!
We're equal opportunity purloiners.
I wonder which manufacture will supply the inner wings that will weld straight in?

Boys WE are anxiously awaiting next episode...I have wagered tupence on All Hallow's Eve..but I think "GUY FAWK'S DAY is more likely....but holding out hope for "Boxing Day" at the latest???
I was wondering what was the enormous member lurking in this shot watching ep15 yesterday, it gets explained in ep16:
I understand you guys want to keep the episodes engaging and interesting to watch, so most of the fabrication explained before gets cut down to a montage of several seconds. But I really would like to see an extended version of the fabrication process when the whole thing is done: Project Binky! The Movie
Oh, btw, you guys work awfully fast! What you have achieved in 8 hours probably would take me a month....
FYI 210 DAYS ..or in seconds..... 18176140 18176141 18176142 18176143 18176144 18176145 18176146 18176047 18176148 18176149 181760UGETTHEIDEA
But.. who's counting

Well, they have made a heater. So I suppose that means they will make themselves a battery as well

First they have to redesign a part that they have already redesigned the redesign of the redesign of the original design.
The new workshop assistant didn't impress me. Too slow with the sweeping. :)

That PS pump motor bracket contained more sexy contours than Kate Beckinsale in a flannel night shirt.
Perhaps you should rename it Tardis, with as much amazing and wondrous things that you have shoehorned into it.
Pretty sure some laws of physics were massaged a bit to allow the precision cramming of a bonnet lift mechanism in there.

There's something I don't understand. Since you used an electro-hydraulic steering pump, rather than a belt-driven one, it seems to me that you could have put it anywhere. So why mount it so far away from the rack? I've never built a car, so in my naive imagination, I would have mounted it on the bulkhead just above the rack, with fluid lines around 30 cm long.

Some time very soon, there's going to be an engine totally filling the front of the car. The electric / hydraulic pump is to cram essential gear into a tight corner
Surely they are running out of things to do before sending the shell off for paint? Main one being wiring, also arches, and maybe, aircon. And then build the bloody motor!

There is still plenty of plumbing and fabricating to do under the bonnet - worry ye not guys. And yes, the engine and wiring is going to cover at least several episodes. Also remember the arch extensions? They will serve as a template for something exotic (I suspect). Then here's a million things to do to the interior trim etc. etc. so I think, nay hope, that there are at least another 10 episodes. Oh and the front suspension/steering arrangement looks likely to get some attention.

I love your optimism! 10 episode? I started exercising so I can live long enough to watch the finale and the 20 more episodes where these guys tear binky apart and use "improve" or "optimise" as an excuse to do more fabrication...

I am a little late on a reply after the episode has aired. Nik, your witchcraft of creating a working cardboard heater/blower is nothing short of astounding. Not to mention that you recreated it in aluminum as well. Since you are in merry old England please stay away from witch hunters, you will be burned at the stake. Absolutely the best episode yet. IMHO.
