Here is my project, mazda mx5 mk1 engine powered mini 1000 (1.6 litre dohc engine ,roughly 110 bhp at the rear wheels, and an lsd, hopefully just under 700kg )
bought this about a year ago, truing to get it though an mot, but has to much rust, thought i got it all, so as i would have to fix that thought i ought to change it up just a little bit more,
Then bought a classic mini shell, bit of rust on that too !! love that shame of these car so no panel changes at all.
I'm easily confused so I'll ask. You are cutting up the Mazda for easy disposal, not so you can use part of the chassis for the mini?
Will the mini be rear wheel drive, or do you have some slick FWD trans-axle to show us?
This looks like a fun project, looking forward to future posts.

I am cutting up the mx5 body up so it will fit inside the mini body, basically cutting the mx5 down to a floor and then cutting the mini floor out and placing the mini body on top of the mx5,
yes it won't fit esialy,
the mini will be rear wheel drive, as imo thats the best way to do it and the most fun ;)

Heres an update,
after going though 10 angle grinding discs and 8 reciprocating blades, finally nearly all done with the cutting up, just the A pillar section left and a bit of the dash left
Then moving on to the rear section, which makes quite a big difference,
Now thats all cut out, i did a bit more work on the front,
Then a few extra photos, including a new speaker set up, parts pilled up on the mini and another rear section one :)

Onwards with stripping it down and cutting it up, slowly getting there.
storing the parts somewhere special
