I'd be curious to see a list of what parts are beign used and from what donor vehicles they have come from if not new aftermarket parts.
I'm learning loads, so it would be interesting to see where the sum of the parts are assembled from. Where are the window mechanisms from, where did the fuel pumps come from, what type of hoses will be used and why, etc, etc?
I'm currently 95% of the way through my own build shoe-horning over-engineered and over-performing parts into an inappropriate vehicle so know the feeling of never ending custom work with lots of random pieces required to make it all fit. it would make me feel better about my own large pile of receipts for amateur mistakes.

From memory: The steering column came from an MG. The driveshaft came from Lexus. The wheels came from Peugeot. The steering ends are from Toyota. Door handle is from Mitsubishi L200. Tilting bonnet motor is custom made and definitely not from Ford Mondeo seat. :) Most other parts are custom made.
The best option to avoid expensive parts, that don't fit, is to become friendly with the local scrapyard dealer and negotiate a part return policy.

Seats from an S2000?
It reminds me of the song by Johnny Cash - 'One piece at a time'
