I bought the DWL-200 from amazon.com. It makes the noise.

Adding to that: I thought about the dwl-280, but cost 2x or 3x the dwl-200. It looks a wee bit smaller than what I think it should be... maybe not... but generally looks the same, and indeed makes the noise. Good enough for a gift, I'd say.

Hey all!
boyfriend (actually fiance) of upupdowndown here.
thanks for the input! She ended up grabbing a different model that indeed did not make the noise (boo, although it was a pocket model anyways so it was an odd size and shape anyways)
We're gonna replace it with the DWL-200, it looks like the consumer grade version of the admittedly more professional DWL-280.
take care and hope you all have a great new year!

It would be cheaper to get one of the T-shirts...

Looking for a digital spirit level/inclinometer and see the Digi-Pas DWL-280Pro comes out top in some reviews.
On checking on Amazon, there are several reviews stating there are issues with the accuracy, difficulty calibrating, reading the bubbles and even drift.
I thought a digital device would be better than the poor quality non-digital devices I've received (and sent back) but I'm hearing there are quality issues with many digital devices.
Does anyone know which model of DigiPas digital level is used to "make the noise" at BOM?
It appears to be a older DWL-280:
