I can imagine Nik, Rick and Rex doing the wiring next. It involves lots of fixings and a few holes in bodywork, so has to be done before painting. It also puts off building the engine, which seems to be part of the plan

Even though we never see every nook in the workshop doesn't mean the "lump" is in it. The actual engine and box can be in Nik's kitchen! He is probably using pistons as cups and rods as forks. The oil pan that doesn't have a huge chunk missing is a salad bowl.
List IMO: (not in perfect order)
Requires fabrication:
Battery placement
Exhaust/turbo finishing
Wheel arch final
While in paint:
Refurbishing subframes/suspension
After paint:
Wiring
Exterior trim
Interior everything
Tunes

But why put the windscreen in???
I'm intrigued

Perhaps testing the defroster vent(s) efficiency?
Kiwi Paul said

You would need to have boiling water feeding to the heater element, and a freezing screen. Not that easy to arrange simultaneously. But I suppose Nick could create a full test rig....
GrayRaceCat said

I was thinking more like a smoke test to visualize air distribution on the screen. Maybe UV-smoke oil in an induction system smoke tester and a black light in the dark. Just to be sure it reaches the useful parts of the windscreen.

I'm sure they would have mocked something up in CAD before TIGing up the whole system to assess HVAC flow.
Wiper linkage is in (that's not to say Nick wouldn't redesign it for fun!) so cant see anything to do there
HUD?
Frenched in obsolete tax disc holder?
Auto-lights / auto-wipers rear view mirror sensors and associated wiring?
:)
GrayRaceCat said

I was thinking not about faults in the case itself but about the possible need for fins inside the diffusers to allow for more even distribution across the screen.
Kiwi Paul said
Jun 12, 2018
That could be done during the final build, just by test / remove / modify the diffusers, such as by fitting fins in the outlet area to redirect the flow

perhaps Fins on the rear wings????

Like two big vertical rudders? Might work, doesn't violate the "no changes to the body to make it fit" rule, so it could fly! "If it's not 10 feet long it's not a Mini" I don't recall Nik mentioning a height restriction!

I keep coming back to why the screen is in. The only thing that makes sense to me is that it has to be an improvement to both the standard mini wipers and the washers. Think about it, the guys have just spent a ridiculous amount of time sorting the heater and adding aircon so improving the wiper operation must be on the list of upgrades and this is the best time to do it.

Any teasers yet? I know it's been nowhere near 6 months since the last episode... but still... I can dream/hope right?!?
GrayRaceCat said

+The Chief Smeg, I think you are on to something here, with the HVAC they can now see through the inside of the screen, why not update the wipers to see through the outside too!
+bobbenoster There is ALWAYS hope.

It seems along time since the last installment, I'm thinking with all the outside distractions (British GP,Goodwood, all the Customer cars, Racing Season, etc) Binky has been relegated to the back shed and left to collect dust until after Holiday and closer to Autumn. Will we see a new installment after School resumes?????

The word "perhaps" (as mentioned on Twitter) gives the boys a bit of leeway so don't hold your breath. It comes when it comes. Patience is a virtue and all that.

The wipers on a mini were not always what you would call good, I’m wondering if the boys are going to go for an upgrade of some description (what am I saying, of course they are going for an upgrade)! The washers and wipers will have some serious work in the next episode I reckon

they could always go back to basics , a bits of string tied to the wiper arms one end to each side of the screen ,no electrickery involved

Wow, only 2 1/2 months since the last episode. This is getting, um, hasty
If it's an issue of 28.75mm or 28.57mm, a little maths is in order....
0.75-0.57 = 0.18mm.
1mm = 0.040",
So 0.18 x 0.040" = 0.0072"
In other words the error in the maths is seven thousandths of an inch. Not a lot to worry about.
The Chief Smeg said

I did spot that, but wasn’t worried as soon as it was pointed out that everything was not going to be flat and square. I REALLY did not see the rear wiper coming though.
And we have the answer to where the battery is going and it looks like 19 is going to be wiring! Do you think we are going to have an automatic light solution?

Did anyone who spotted the error actually work out what 28.57 squared is?
