Well, the fellas did say they were wiring next but that could just have been a diversion tactic - remember the rear speakers?

yeh - not much of a stretch predicting 'wiring' but can you imaging the clips and brackets!?!
I don't think your auto lights preminition is much of a stretch either

They haven't done washers yet -but they won't take long. Nik may want auto headlamps and a stereo. Wiring has to be done before paint, due to passage holes and mounting brackets.. They don't seem to want to build the engine - my guess is that it will be built while the paint is being done.

Thing is, there are engine components to fit in before the wiring too, as well as paint. Those windows are coming out again too if they are going to fit a headlining

Speaking of engine bits has reminded me of a conversation I had at work with a new colleague last week, turns out he is a GT4 nut and owns two. I suggested he should watch Binky, next day he came in to work and said “ saw a bit of that Binky last night, it’s only a 185, not the full on Group B car; mind you the engine is the same”. I kind of think he missed the point completely!
i do however think you have a point about the engine, whilst it is not time to see what they are doing with the real lump, they do need to plan how and where a large number of ancillary items are going, you know minor little things like water pumps, turbos and the like. Then they can start cutting holes in the bulkhead again for little bits of wire.

idont forget they could easily gloss over the engine build as i could be happening now.
and smoke me a kipper and more cheese need. there is a lot of people of short stature going on here.

My guess is that Rex Hamilton has been sequestered in a back room building the engine in secret. That's why we never see him - as himself or as Abraham Lincoln

engine anyone? i finally want to see how they tackle that elephant scrotum

I don’t reckon it is going to be the engine just yet, that will probably be one of the last things. Wonder if it is going to be electrical stuff but not the wiring as such....

My money is on wiring being done after the engine. Nothing more hateful than having to redo a wiring loom. In fact wiring will likely be one of the last hurdles. Episode 19 will see the dash go in. Either that, or the rear subframe is going on a diet. Just a thought.

generally when sorting wipers, you sort the lights at the same time. I am mostly curious about which route he takes with regards to removable front end and the respective lighting
The Chief Smeg said

Blimey I had not considered that, there will need to be a removable connection

Ah yes, a plug so that when the bonnet is lifted off, the headlamp leads disconnect. I think it will need to be a plug firmly mounted at the hinge, so that it simply disconnects as the bonnet is lifted off. I'm sure Nik and Rick (with the able assistance of Rex Hamilton) will be able to resolve this. Elaborately
.
I can see it coming on. The next Binky episode will be headlamp auto switch, wiring, and THE PLUG. And if they get really keen, an innovative headlamp wash system....... In a few months' time
Have they mentioned a./ c radiator location? I can imagine it going into the left wheel-arch, where the standard Mini rad goes, along perhaps with an engine oil cooler

i'm guessing a compact electrical compressor with some compact custom condenser for a/c

Im still wondering about dry sump mod, obviously this will come as part of the engine but I have to admit it may be on the cards

According to one of the latest post on FB, it looks like I was wrong in assuming EP19 would not feature wiring. Admitted, EP19 has not aired yet so anything can happen (parcel shelf anyone?) but given that the boys have investigated heavily in obsolete Sumitomo connectors, chances are we're going to see some wiring action soon. Nice.

Hmm so we will see the dash wired, headlamps, indicators, repeaters, rear lights... wonder what is planned for the woeful reversing light - you don’t think we are going to see a video reversing camera do you?
I’m also wondering about that glovebox door - you think the fellas have plans to put something behind it in the tiny space they showed us?

I think the glove box IS for Niks driving gloves, after all, he does like to "push on" when driving!

all the lights I think will be led upgrades as for the reversing lights a pair of 10w leds fitted into the standard light cluster would have that covered .

That does make sense, LED lights are damn good, I have them on my car and it is like switching the daylight back on

Actually you are right, we haven’t seen evidence of mirrors yet so they could go that riute

they could be dragging binky into this century , rear mounted cameras to a dash mounted video monitor

the compartment box only has enofuh room for maybe a screen anyway
The Chief Smeg said

I’d wondered about a screen in the glove box, but I reckoned it would be an interface for a stereo system
landranger said

it could be a multi function unit i.c.e and rear view monitor ,internet ,Bluetooth ecu interface ?????.
is that going to far ,
it will be good if its finished before next years goodwood
maybe they need to ask the mcm crew to come and give them a hand to get it finished ?????

All we know is that there are going to run a Link ECU. As for other electronic wizardry... wait and see.
Beat you to it Mini Madness!
I predict "Wiring"!

LOL @ feet when showing the loom - genius!
The thing I find hardest to believe is no-one has started an Episode 20 thread yet!
What a job they did too - utterly brilliant.
