So, what is left?

For fun I made a small list in no special order of what is left to be done to Binky. It seems short. Feel free to make suggestions of steps I've missed.

Fuel tank. - Most likely pre-made unit with pump and filter installed. Although probably slightly modified.

Speaker holes. - :)

Fuel lines/pipes. - Plumbing needed.

Brake lines/pipes. - Plumbing needed.

Engine. - Will it be rebuilt?

Gearbox. -

Turbine. - Exhaust/intake pipes and oil. This will include the water to air intercooler.

Wheel arches. - "What wheel arches?" you might say.

Bumpers. - Plus mirrors, chrome and other bright bits.

Wiring. - Engine, lights, radio, electric windows and battery.

Windows. - One of the last parts to be added.

Paintwork. - Colour? Black? Tig-green?

Rear seat. - It will not need seat warmers.

Carpet. - Custom part that cannot be welded. Or can it?

Headliner. - One of few items that can be stock.

Doorliners. - Thin MDF/metal, foam and vinyl.

clutch lines/pipes etc. - plumbing needed
dash/instrumentation - will the original still fit and will the boys go analog or digital?
re paintwork, I thought I saw someone say Binky is white in the books.

Nice list. We'll obviously be addressing the tank and the bloody speaker holes in episode 13 along with the arches. Everything else to follow. Unsure what order yet but there's quite a lot to do!

"Carpet. - Custom part that cannot be welded. Or can it?"

I'm sure some CAD (Cardboard Aided Design) will be involved.  Not sure if an angle grinder will tho'.  Calm down Nik....

Yes it can. If you install it as it is in my TR6, you would use snaps, and you can plug weld the snaps onto the floors vice using screws.

Oh, and I would really like a Binky T-shirt... really.

Crud, I just spent time making my own list before I found this thread. Anyway, I figure that there's at least another 10 episodes of work to do:

fuel pump and fuel line
engine accessory mounting (starter motor, alternator, air filter, possibly TVIS)
- I think that the cooling pump and intake manifold will be unchanged, and the mini might not need a power steering pump
gaping hole in the oil sump (from episode 12)
turbocharger
exhaust manifold
radiator/charge cooler plumbing
brake cables (rear parking brakes already done)
wheels for reals (you can use that as an episode title if you like)
wheel arches
rear seats and seat belts (3-point in rear?)

gauges (speedometer/odo, tach, fuel level)
headlights
indicators (turn signals, brake lights, reverse lights)
wiring loom, battery, ignition
throttle cable or sensor
ventilation ducts, blower(s), heater, possibly A/C
wing mirrors
sound system (speakers, audio source (radio?), wiring)
dash lights, interior lights

glass and windscreen wipers
windscreen washer fluid tank & sprayers
final bodywork and paint
interior carpeting

test drives and modifications
inspection, insurance, VIN

I like the idea of a custom transporter for Binky. But, since you plan on using it as a daily driver, probably not on the short list. Nik you seem like the rugged outdoorsman. What about adding a hidden hitch and making a custom lightweight bondage caravan.  I mean plain teardrop camper, because I live in the colonies.

Updated after Episode 13. For some weird reason it's become longer :):

Exterior, bottom and engine bay:

Fuel lines/pipes. - Plumbing needed.

Engine. - Will it be rebuilt? The pan will need to be modified for the exhaust or the exhaust modified slightly. Slightly (as used here) is of course relative to the task at hand.

Gearbox. - Will it be rebuilt, linkages are done.

Turbine. - Exhaust/intake pipes and oil. This will include the water to air intercooler. And it needs to be bigger.

Foot pedals, lines/pipes. Throttle, brake and clutch. - Plumbing needed.

Wheel arches. - "What wheel arches?" you might say.

Bumpers. - Plus mirrors, wipers, chrome and other bright bits.

Windows. - One of the last parts to be added. Tinted?

Paintwork. - Colour? Black? White? Pink? Tig-green?

Electrics. - Engine, lights and battery.

Air circulation. - Heater, fans and maybe Air Conditioning?

Interior:

Electrics. - Radio (+ speakers (to drown out the screams) :)), dash, electric windows.

Rear seat. - It will not need seat warmers.

Carpet. - Custom part that cannot be welded. Or can it?

Headliner. - One of few items that can be origina Mini, although I'm sure they are looking into making their own, probably on their CNC mill.

Doorliner. - Thin MDF/metal, foam and vinyl.

Seatbelts. - 3, 4 or 5 points? Back and front?

Hang on Hang on, surely our friends across the pond will be confused now as the 'Hood' that they know is what we call the 'Bonnet' (because that's what it's called).  Us brits would like to make it clear that we believe there is going to be a black roof and a white bonnet  pTerry's character had the black cowl and startlingly blue eyes, so hat would mean xenon headlights.

Binky is a white horse, so the whole car should be white. Painting on a scythe might be taking things a bit far. DEATH wears a black cloak with hood, so Binky should be driven wearing a black hoodie, up. Some blue 'parking' lamps will give the 'startlingly blue eyes' quite adequately, but I won't object to xenon headlamps, unless something more powerful can be fitted.

OK it's settled, White body, Black roof, and 8000K or 10000K Bi-Zenon headlamps.
Now who's going to convince the guys?

hi guys , I don't want to put you off using zenon lights but to make the legal in uk they need to be self leveling and have washers fitted .
led would be the route to go I think , there are some nice fancy ones out there that have side and indicators lights built in .
keep us informed of the progress

Or we could go for the BMW i8 style Laser headlights.

Rather that painting a scythe into the side don't you think Nick could knock up a quick CAD template and have a nice sort of holster design on the side, even have a sprung loaded blade that would pop into position (or even a nice beat electric solution that would take Richard about 4 days to hurt rig due to the difference in travel and direction used by the locking mechanism).

Sorry, Sorry I'm going mad here, we should just use Deaths sword (see Mort)

No! do a BOM logo Roof, Much more special, then have it clad in either black or white (to make it look like binky). and then have "subtle" additional touches. Do what you want its your car, however here are my ideas.

Updated after Episode 14. This will take forever and as Prince said "Forever is a mighty long time". :):

Exterior, bottom and engine bay:

Fuel. - More plumbing needed.

Cooling. - Plumbing needed.

Engine. - Will it be rebuilt? The pan will need to be modified slightly for the exhaust, plumbing and wiring needed.

Gearbox. - Unless it will it be rebuilt it is basically done and only needs to be bolted in.

Turbine. - Exhaust/intake pipes and oil. This will include the water to air intercooler. And it needs to be bigger.

Foot pedals, lines/pipes. Throttle, brake and clutch. - Plumbing needed.

Wheel arches. - They are halfway there, maybe addition of sills.

Bumpers. - Plus mirrors, wipers, chrome and other bright bits like the fuel cap.

Windows. - OEM is fine here. Tinted?

Paintwork. - A lot of prep. Colour? Black? White? Pink? Tig-green?

Electrics. - Engine, lights and battery. Engine computer will be Link. Battery will most likely have the word "Lithium" somewhere on it.

Air. - Heater, fans and maybe AC?

Exhaust. - Engine bay part of it is not finished.

Interior:

Electrics. - Radio + speakers, dash, electric windows, switches, etc.

Rear seat. - Warm and cosy.

Carpet. - Custom part that cannot be welded. Hmmm?

Headliner. - OEM is fine, although I'm sure they are looking into making their own using elaborate cad templates.

Doorliner. - How hard can that be? :)

Seatbelts. - 3, 4 or 5 points? Back and front?

Done and dusted:

Bodywork, except for prep and paint and wheel-arches and sills?

Wheels and Tires.

Running gear.

Steering.

Front seats.

Handbrake.

Exterior, bottom and engine bay:

Fuel. - More plumbing needed. Yep, more in ep.15

Cooling. - Plumbing needed. A later episode

Engine. - Will it be rebuilt? The pan will need to be modified slightly for the exhaust, plumbing and wiring needed. You'll have to wait and see.

Gearbox. - Unless it will it be rebuilt it is basically done and only needs to be bolted in. Needs a bit of attention but basically straightforward.

Turbine. - Exhaust/intake pipes and oil. This will include the water to air intercooler. And it needs to be bigger. Bigger? Why?

Foot pedals, lines/pipes. Throttle, brake and clutch. - Plumbing needed. Hopefully some of this coming soon.

Wheel arches. - They are halfway there, maybe addition of sills. No sills. Need to make the actual finished arch. These were just bucks.

Bumpers. - Plus mirrors, wipers, chrome and other bright bits like the fuel cap. Brightwork is easy and already in stock.

Windows. - OEM is fine here. Tinted? OEM is fine.

Paintwork. - A lot of prep. Colour? Black? White? Pink? Tig-green? All in hand.

Electrics. - Engine, lights and battery. Engine computer will be Link. Battery will most likely have the word "Lithium" somewhere on it. Coming soon.

Air. - Heater, fans and maybe AC? Heater coming soon.

Exhaust. - Engine bay part of it is not finished. To go with turbo and downpipe.

Interior:

Electrics. - Radio + speakers, dash, electric windows, switches, etc. Much to do there

Rear seat. - Warm and cosy. OEM re-trimmed probably.

Carpet. - Custom part that cannot be welded. Hmmm? Got to get some sort of welding in somehow.

Headliner. - OEM is fine, although I'm sure they are looking into making their own using elaborate cad templates. We like easy, honest.

Doorliner. - How hard can that be? :) Can't wait to show you, been in hand for about 2 years

Seatbelts. - 3, 4 or 5 points? Back and front? Front only.

Done and dusted:

Bodywork, except for prep and paint and wheel-arches and sills?

Wheels and Tires.

Running gear.

Steering.

Front seats.

Handbrake.

Still no word on the BOM logo or Binky design? I suppose that this the last thing on your list.
Time to make those British electrics come good! (We have got better since the BL****e that used to get manufactured)

Updated after Episode 15. Some of earlier BOM comments in red.

Exterior, bottom and engine bay:

Cooling. - Plumbing needed. A later episode

Engine. - To be rebuilt.  Slight modification for the exhaust, plumbing and wiring needed.

Turbine. - Exhaust/intake pipes and oil. This will include the water to air intercooler. And it needs to be bigger. Bigger? Why? Because you can. :)

Foot pedals, lines. - Only throttle left.

Wheel arches. - Bucks are ready, need to make final arches.

Bumpers. - Plus mirrors, wipers, chrome and other bright bits like the fuel cap. Brightwork is easy and already in stock.

Windows. - OEM is fine here. Tinted? OEM is fine.

Paintwork. - A little bit of prep. Colour? Black? White? Pink? Tig-green? All in hand.

Electrics. - Engine, lights and battery. Engine computer will be Link. Battery will most likely have the word "Lithium" somewhere on it. Coming soon.

Air. - Heater, fans, pipes and maybe AC? Heater coming soon.

Exhaust. - Engine bay part of it is not finished. To go with turbo and downpipe.

Rear Diff. - Probably just a look, clean and paint. Although you never know.

Interior:

:) Can't wait to show you, been in hand for about 2 years. Now I'm curious.

Seatbelts. - 3, 4 or 5 points? Back and front? Front only.

Extra:

Get drivers license for Richards twins so they can be the first to drive Binky when finished. Hohoho. :)

Done and dusted (more or less):

Exhaust. - Only last front part left.

Gearbox. - Basically done and only needs to be bolted in for the final time.

Foot pedals, plus plumbing, for brake and clutch.

Fuel system, plus plumbing.
