This is the same place I raced my 1964 Hillman Imp 998cc saloon.
The red Californian has been around the circuit also, the event was pre practice for the David Piper Springbok Series revival meeting, it was more than then years back?
As it turned out the Imps 875cc Sport specification engine threw off its fan belt, I knew right then that without the deep V alloy competition type pulleys I was wasting my time.
I had a 1964? Sunbeam Imp in California in 1968 and it was my test pad for my burgeoning mechanical skills. It threw a rod not long after my "rebuilding" the engine. Seats went into a 1963 Plymouth Valiant ( don't ask ) and the front suspension went on a home built tube framed dune buggy. Didn't handle for crap in the sand but the corvair power with Zoomie headers was a sight to hear and see.
