right, I know we are a ways off yet, but I'm pretty certain that Nick and Richard have already planned this, BUT, what is planned for the lights?
Anyone who has owned/currently owns a classic mini will tell you that the headlights are... well crap. What then we ask ourselves is planned for when darkness falls - using standard headlights and a set of KC daylights ir Cibbies is out of the question because they will block cooling to the radiators. Wonder what is planned...

THERE ARE COUNTLESS AFTER-MARKET LIGHTS AVAILABLE TO FIT A STANDARD SEALBEAM MOUNT INCL HALOGEN, TUNGSTON, AND HI-INTENSITY...AS LONG AS "THE PRINCE OF DARKNESS" STAYS AWAY.....BUT I THINK THE BOYS WILL HAND BREW A MUCH BETTER HARNESS TO COMPENSATE FOR 50 YR OLD LUCAS PARTS

On my side of the Pond there are many "drop-in" solutions, Halogen, HID, LED, etc. not all are legal for use on the road. Which if any are legal for use in the UK?

Well, Halogen, Xenon and LED are all legal in the uk, my current car came with LED headlights and it is like switching in daylight!

What I meant to say is as Original Equipment Halogen, Xenon, and LED are legal in the states. Where you run into trouble is sometimes aftermarket "UPGRADE" fixtures are not DOT approved and therefore not legal for use "on Public Streets and Highways". I'm wondering if you have a similar situation in the UK.

Aaah got you. There are some upgrade kits that are illegal, for example you can buy (from well known auction sites) kits that allow you to mount Xenon bulbs in a normal reflector designed for a halogen bulb - these are illegal and the plod (police) can pull you for having these as the dazzle other drivers. You can though buy sealed unit replacements and fit these so long as they are set to the correct height etc. My BM has self levelling lights though so not sure if the fellas are going to go quite that far... hang on, nick fitted an electrically operated flip front; of course he would do something like that what was I thinking!

after some research online I think I have the perfect nostalgic answer to lighting Binky use the same lighting array as "PADDY HOPKIRK" the great "MONTE CARLO RALLYE" winner and greatest Mini driver ever!!!!! Perfect placement and great design.
I had not thought of the Paddy Hopkirk layout, I had been hoping for more of an "Italian Job" look, but I fear both would block cooling too much, however the Paddy Hipkirk lighting directly under the main headlight units would work.

Imo the best solution is to replace the original headlights with better units but keeping the "standard look". Round headlights used to be quite common so there are few options available for classic minis, including halogen conversion and even projector lights if you are ready to modify the body behind the lights. Something I'm sure Nik would never do. :)

There's still plenty of grill area. If there wasn't, it could rise around the engine from underneath. The air enters the engine bay, and passes through the radiator into the left wheel arch.

I reckon that Osram Nightbreaker bulbs are the best compromise between brightness and bulb life. They would be a vast improvement over sealed beam units which are getting harder to come by and go for silly money.

The two pack of H4 / 9003 / 472 "OSRAM Nightbreaker Unlimited Halogen" dual filament bulbs goes for around 25$ US, not bad. But the guys will need a pair of UK legal lens/reflector assemblies to fit them in the mini. From what I've seen those are rare/expensive even for off-road use.
