Spent about 12 years just getting most of the parts together and after watching Binky has given me the motivation to get her finished. Chassis from New Zealand (new but made to original drawings) about 80% complete and includes pressed steel inner and outer roof. I have a 1972 small block ford V8 which has been rebored 20 thou over. Original Italian weber 48IDA twin carbs, original throttle linkage system and will either go 289 cu in (4.7 litre) or possibly up to a 330 Cu in. Solid roller lifters and no ecu!!! they didnt have them back in the day. An original rear clip, replica doors and front clip and all the parts to complete the bulkhead roof a pillars and front suspension pickup points. All suspension arms, uprights, hubs wheels and breaks and £10,000 worth of original ZF-0 transaxle (took 5 years to find that and it came from the U S of A)
Its taken 12 years to get the parts because I had to save up for each part and they are not cheap. As soon as you ask for a 'GT40' part there seems to be an extra zero on the price!!!
Also space is VERY limited in my shed but it in my garden and I dont need to pay for storage, although I did remortgage my flat to pay for the chassis :-0
Loving the Binky build guys and the lescargot is the cherry on the cake. Im a time served fitter, have a degree in engineering and a Phd in computer stuff so we will see how the build goes.
...and yes I do sit in it and make brum brum noises..... now where do you get one of those 'MAKE THE NOISE' levels.....
