I did wonder on your 1st edit whether you were suggesting they put the interior in before the wiring but I'm with you now and your sequence makes great sense (to me at least) so I doubt they'll do anything like that, most likely choosing to take it on a test drive on the dolly wheels to check that it will fit down their local lanes.

Have to ask: Why lights first?? (other than it makes it look like you've finished).

I suspect there's a fair bit coming on the suspension as I just can't see them bolting on the (modified) Toyota dampers.

The dyno step is also a very good shout, though I'd imagine that from the early episodes they are so familiar with whipping the thing in and out that they might do an installation with the running gear early and then take it out again. Two or three times.

I had the very same thought when they did the originals. Also, chrome trim or black? I suspect chrome but black would also look great.

Six more episodes - that's what, about 9 years? Think I'll be quite sad when they finish.

Hang on, before we leave the wheel arches, have we already concluded the discussion about what links the sports pack arches down the sills? If there was nothing apparently painted for this in the Binky mega painting marathon, I wonder what they have in mind?

 

On the aux lighting, perhaps they'll be wired into the roof rack? You know, the one with the spare wheel strapped to it...

grapevine says newer ecu than shown to us. Wondering what the newer has that the old doesn't.

Pretty sure they had a Link G4 Fury (?) ECU lined up and Binky will be getting the Link G4X Fury now - and mapped on the hub dyno once it's all installed and up and running. Which ever one it was it'll now have...

Agreed with the sill cover Kirk - I'm sure Nick won't stand for any potential rust inducers

I think the door sub looms only had central locks, elec windows & speaker wires - they'd have previewed the mirrors with the full electrical test in Ep 20 oddish and the door skins only had holes and captive nuts in the same place as the originals so, just like with the paint, it'll probably be just the same as it was before they started

I saw on Twitter that Ep. 34 will precede the next library van update - which is nice. I liked your "follow the forum" nudge, Forsh and really hope they stick some headlights in first (just because).

Based on what we've seen so far, the assumption has to be that they are going with chrome trim rather than black (or was that the gold they were alluding to? Surely not!) although I can't imagine that we'll see any trim for a few episodes yet. There's got to be an episode on wrapping the wiring harness some time soon. Wonder if we'll get beyond sound insulation in 34? Don't get me wrong, it's great that there's plenty of watching time to go, but the anticipation of that engine sound is really something.

So, this weekend then?

What do we reckon: gold-foiled ash-tray and cable harness?
I suppose I'll be happy if we see just a smidge of running gear installation and the return of Ralph to the right side of the camera.

Heck, I'll be happy with whatever we get, but with no chance of any grinder action, we at least need some beeps from that torque wrench to remind us all that this is a hard-core engineering project.

PS/ It did occur to me that the chaps might just have changed direction entirely and plan to use the newly painted shell as a buck for building some carbon-fibre tooling. I suppose that will mostly depend on whether or not a sponsor has offered them an autoclave for the workshop. First use of an angle grinder to cut pre-preg?

You can branch braided sections, with heat shrink at the junction, but it takes a fair bit of planning. Or if you're Singer then you have your own branching heat shrink junction thingumies made.
Tesa tape MUCH better than the British Leyland "solution". Did a section on my car not so long back and was very pleased with the result so I'm not knocking it at all. Just thought the chaps would take the opportunity to do something on the next level.

I think you may be being a little optimistic there - other than the minimum of 4 tea breaks. Hope you're right, but I fear the OCD that we all know and love will kick in and we won't get the drivetrain all in within one episode. Unless that happens, they're not going to start filling the aircon circuit as it's no fun draining and recharging it. As long as those headlights are mounted, what's not to like though?

Not long to go until you're proved right and I have to eat my words. :D

As I'm sure you realised, I was hoping for both in the one episode and not just "men with sticky film". We got a picture of it all and a promise that it will be installed in the next episode so that's something to look forward to.
