What's Binky Worth?

Just wondering if when it hits the road next year/decade and everyone decides to trade in their Valkyrie's etc to get the true hyper-fear experience, what would they have to pay for a Binky clone?

I assume all the CAD has been saved to a nice dry drawer in the garage.

Based on nothing more that made up numbers 3000hrs @£100/hr - £300,000 of your English pounds ???

As you up the production numbers the R&D costs (teabag expenditure high during this phase) would be assimilated in to the production run so maybe get them down to a cool quarter Mil?

Would be very interesting to ask... What if anything would they do different?

In terms of actual cash spent, probably not a great deal, sheet steel and alloy, some cardboard, two scrap cars, some link ecu/wiring stuff, engine and gearbox rebuild stuff and a paintjob/interior trim.  Though I imagine the last 2 items were quite expensive because of the level they've gone to.  However, once you factor in the thousands of hours of skilled labour as Forsh said you're definitely getting into the 100's of thousands range.  The fact is, it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it but it's very unlikely it will ever be sold while Nik is still breathing. On a similar note, I often wonder what RetroPower charge for one of their builds. I would imagine some of them fall into the 100's of thousands range as well.

Only the Lads know how many man-hours are in Binky. My best guess...

(weekends(~16hrs))x(50 weeks(X-mas & New-year off))x(8 years)x(2 blokes)=12,800 hours! This is weekends only, give or take for tea & biscuit breaks, sick days, and the odd weekday thrown in.

The best average Shop labor rate I could find... £40.00. Grand Total = £512,000 ($711,000 US) Labor, PLUS Parts and Sublet(?)(Paint, Upholstery, etc. I'm not sure the of UK term for this.) and it falls in line with cars like...

Billy Gibbons CadZZilla cost $900,000. (in 1990 US$).

Timeless Kustoms spent 10,000 hours transforming a 1965 Ford Mustang coupe. "1,000 HP 'Vicious' 1965 Ford Mustang - Jay Leno's Garage" (10,000 x $90.00=$900,000 LABOR)
