"Hm. Thought I'd entered a post, it disappeared."

No, it was posted, but the system flagged it as a spam comment because you replied to the user Tempobye, who is a known spammer. Tempobye is trying a new tactic by posting a non-spam question and then replying to it under another new user name. I know his current IP address and am keeping my eye on him.

I approved the posts, and they should both be visible now. Please let me know if they aren't.

That looks like fun. Can you tell me more about the cars and the event(s)?

Ugh, spam. Say no more. I deleted the redundant post.

It's a little low impact motorsport we have, ostensibly for road legal cars. We get together and set up a course on an unimproved surface (dirt/clay/gravel) and run for times, with a focus on not getting penalties for hitting the cones. Because of its low impact nature, speeds are deliberately kept low and vehicle modifications minimal. Agility is more important than anything else.

That said, the top video is my personal car, a series 3 RX-7 with a 13B running about 270bhp, a front suspension from a later car, a Ford 9" in the rear with a three link and 4.87 final drive, and not much else.  I do drive it 2-5 hours each way to events so it still has all of the decadent luxuries like most of an interior, HVAC, power windows, etc.  I was going to replace it with an RX-3 with a Volvo 740 front suspension, a Gp4 Escort style rear suspension with an as yet undetermined rear axle, and the RX-7's engine, but those plans fell by the wayside.

The second video is a friend's car. He owns the R53 that I've been working on. This is a heavily lightened first series MX-5 with a Mazdaspeed turbo engine in it. I forget how much power it has, but it is somewhere between excessive and ludicrous. It's a ball to drive.

Yup! Me too. I've been playing Whack-a-mole with Tempobye for many months now (lost count).

That sounds like something I'd like to try. Is it a US series/event?

What do you like about the Volvo 740 front suspension? I worked on them for years but never got to race one. (at least, not "officially")

Haha! "heavily lightened," I love it!

Curiosity has the better of me. Is there a story behind your username?
