New motor for my Subie
Permalink

Early days for my current project. While traveling to visit grandchildren my 02 wrx motor blew. Apparently a crankshaft bearing. As the car has over 170K miles I thought a replacement motor is in order. I am also 2K miles from home, currently staying with my daughter and my Zoomie has a place in the back of her barn.  I received advise to purchase a Japanese import motor, which I did and it is currently sittling on a pallet next to the car.  The company guaranteed the motor would work and fit in my car.  It is a little different than the 2.0L in the car and a search using the engine number to get a positive ID on what I actually bought has turned up no results. The number was in the place where engine numbers are supposed to be but doesn't follow the pattern described in my manuals. Anyway the motor will be fitted and it will be interesting to see what mechanical adventures will result.  No where near the scope of Project Binky but it will be for me. Cheers.
