I understand the concerns for space within the mini, however there is a rather hot 3inch exhaust under the car would it not be a bad idea to heat shield wrap the exhaust? considering how thin the floor may or may not be. also it promotes better heat into the turbo if you only do it from the block to the turbo, and as a certain supermarket says every little helps!
Ceramic coating is nice, wrapping leads to rust. Wait, it's Stainless Steel. It has much lower thermal conductivity than steel or iron, maybe they don't need heat shielding. The clever little buggers.

I WOULD THINK THAT DYNA-MAT OR SIMILAR PRODUCT ON THE FLOOR THRU OUT AS WELL AS FIREWALL AREA WOULD BE A GOOD SOLUTION FOR BOTH HEAT AND NOISE ELIMINATION . AND THE BOYS WOULD FIND IT MUCH MORE ENJOYABLE TO DRIVE....
They do plan on fitting sound deadening. They allowed for the thickness of it along with the carpet in the driver's footwell when testing out the pedals.
One thing going against heat wrapping an exhaust manifold is that - when it gets soaked with oil (god forbid) it is prone to catching fire.
That aside, heat wrapping looks unsightly after only a short while. Got to love the look of proper stainless steel. I think internal coating is the way forward.
Some heat wrapping can still look ok after a long time; I used to build Harriet JumpJets and the RCS (Reation Control System) had a lot of heat wrapping and that was controlling Jet Exhaust outflow and the wrapping looked OK on the repair items we used to get back (the outer covering was blac k or beige) so wrapping could be the way forward (lot cheaper)
