While working as Traffic Warden I saw a new Mini Cooper S and it had a spiffy little air inlet on the frt of the bonnet . It was chrome plated and on the leading panel . It would solve a problem of an air intake with out spoiling the original look that Nik wants to retain. With proper CAD, bending, welding and linishing it could be a cold air box to the turbo. Possibly might require a little SWAG(scientific Wild-arse guess) to accomplish but well within the capability of our resident Masters!

Early on, Nik showed us a grp bonnet air scoop, and made it clear that external body modifications (other than wheel arch extensions) were not an option. I doubt very much that a bonnet scoop of this type would be used

well if you don't want to have bonnet scoop what about c.a.d the front edge of the bonnet and raising the back edge to make a cool air duct inside the bonnet.

any chance of a few taster pics just to keep use interested and not going away to watch some of the YouTube videos from the other guys from around the planet

I hope all is going well and you are getting close to it moving under its own power

original looking bonnet scoop would be lowering the bonnet on the hinge a litte, so plenty of air can come in,
looks like an orginal mini where a fat person sat on the bonnet
with the added bonus of less space underneath it

In the words of the well-known but unrepeatable chant:

"....it's Good Friday."

"It's good any day."

I thought Nic's objection was the huge lumpy WRX Subie scoop sticking up like a postal box  destroyed the lines , but a tasteful opening on the front of the bonnet would  not alter the silouette.

They surely took their time with that HVAC. Is this the longest we have to wait for an episode?

If anyone, and I mean anyone asks us to do a custom HVAC system with AC in a car with little to no room to spare, the answer will be impolite to say the least...

does that mean the heater box you made for Ep 17 has provision for AC?

Not really, the last episode took 210 days, we have about one month to hit that mark again. If the time gap is increasing exponentially, we probably have to wait until the end of the year.

You know I only found this project because of a mini message board that I frequent. Binged it, at the time it was only at episode 9. Couple days later was soo Jonesing for more, that I went and searched it out. There are a few good ones out there. Just search for it!

Hahaha well said boys. By all means, you can take all the time in the world. I'm just being too impatient to see that HVAC, I know it would be a masterpiece.

While waiting, you might want to check B is for Build's new project, M5 powered 240z. Currently, he's now making positive and negative jig thingy. Not as detail-oriented and as long (per episode) )as Binky, but still good enough. Plus, takes you away from thinking how long Binky ep. 17 is coming.

Episode 17 is yet another immensely great installment. Need to watch it at least 3 more times to soak up all the details that went into the work on display. Being a patreon is fab!

I love the way they kept the original instruments.

When the speedo gets round to the zero peg, will it stop the car going any faster?

Just make the needle spring loaded so when it hits it, it just bends past it.

I'm sure the creator of the video could program that it. But he stops at 141mph each time, just short of the Zero stop. Perhaps he needs to program in more power first?

It's almost a week since Ep 17 went on line, and no responses at all. Is this a first? Are people so wowed by the HVAC unit that they are lost for words?

and to add to that - Wow!

...They gonna need extra Duck tape for the inlet!

Episode 17 was worth the wait! It really gives you some perspective into what really goes into a custom build (as opposed to picking up a off the shelf HVAC solution for your vintage car rebuild...)!
