just one thing though. when using drill bits the bigger the bit the slower you go. chuck should be hardly turning for the large drill bit otherwise it just skips over the metal rather than cutting into it. noise made my teeth itch.

To be honest I disagree - it depends on the power of your lathe, judging by the chips coming off the large drill it was cutting nicely, the bit where they found a hard spot in the puppet though did set my teeth on edge! I do speak from a position of knowledge though, I served my time as a turner/machinist. Thoroughly enjoyed the vid though

Yeah, looks ok - we used to get given the speed and feed guides by the tool reps that came in to our machine shop, the presto one was particularly handy - I’ve still got one somewhere.

These videos are dangerous for me and my marriage. I was content with just driving a car, but after seeing Binky I want to do a proper indepth job on a car. Now, after watching the HDI videos, I want a lathe. I can't find a cheap one, so now I'm researching how to build a concrete lathe.
