Nik/Richard: On one of your very occasional and much-deserved tea breaks <cough>, could I trouble you to offer a tape measure to the big blue jig? I'm interested in the approximate length, width and height for a small project I have on the go. The white lettering height would also be handy but I can estimate a good enough value if the batteries on the digital calipers are flat.
Understeer is when you hit the wall with your front end. Oversteer is when you hit the wall with your back end. Horsepower is how hard you hit the wall. Torque is how far you move the wall when you hit it!
You know I have thought about building binky, but I would want it to be accurate and I’m just not skilled enough for that much scratch building. I’ll look forward to this project with interest.

Not insignificant amongst the problems is the lack of a suitable bodyshell. The Fujimi's glasshouse is not right whereas the Revell and Tamiya are based on Mk 1s.
The BOM boys have set a very high bar and as you say, there's a heck of a lot of scratch building required, so I want to get my eye in with the basic jig (i.e. without rotisserie). I suppose it doesn't have to be spot on in dimensions but reality is generally a good starting point. Along with a Revell kit (tick), Fujimi (tick), Tamiya GT-Four (tick), Tamiya S2000 seats (on the way) and lots of styrene. And some fancy stuff.
Whether or not I ever get to producing something of sufficient quality to share is debatable, but it's going to be good fun trying though.
You going to post a WIP on somewhere like britmodeller or on here? I’d be very interested in following your progress (see if I can learn a thing or two)

I'll see what I can do chaps (and thanks for the interest). I hadn't planned on the grinding scarecrow - although I did pick up a Tamiya rally mechanics set (which has wheel guns but no grinders) on the basis that the included figures were quite a good representation of Nik in overalls on his knees gripping a tool...
Small steps though. Just want to make the basic jig first to see if I can even still cut straight. So, dimensions anyone? :D
