Episode 35 AND 36!!!

"...bolt on the big ticket items and go for a staaaarrt!"

No room for speculation there then!

oh and the loom! (you know - the one in the box!)

Kirk wrote in Ep.34 thread:

I suspect there's a fair bit coming on the suspension as I just can't see them bolting on the (modified) Toyota dampers.

Did you spot the Leda coil-over dampers laid out with the afore mentioned 'big ticket items'?

Oh yes I did! And very exciting they are too. I didn't freeze frame and figure out how they have engineered steering arms but re-watching is part of the fun.

On the whole, I enjoyed 34 but they did seem to drag it out a bit. Of course the "how many ways can you cut Dynamat?" was funny (personal favourite was the return of the angle grinder) but once you've seen one piece being cut and rollered you kind of get the picture. And they didn't even put the headlights in!

35 will be epic. What a project! So much entertainment over a sizeable chunk of our lives. I suspect we may get the long-overdue Escargot before that emerges. What do you reckon?

Looks like steering arms and brake line brackets are all included

Adjustable damping and ride height

And a luverly curtain to lay them out on

I can't see Ep.35 being long off - maybe even this side of Christmas!

Only potential fly-in-the-ointment, for timeline issues in future episodes, could be Dean @ Trimworks availability

Rich has tweeted with a pic of the loomed up under-seat ECU ready for install and saying "Hard bit is done. Next week could be fun... biggrin "

So sounds like Binkys heart will get the defib treatment soon!

In response someone speculated about there being 400 horses within to which Rich said probably more - comment about the size of the turbo lead to Rich offering they run out of injectors at 600!

Fun fun fun!

There's no doubt that the wiring is really good - looks very Porsche loom-like - but I have to admit I'd hoped they might be going for Singer-level obsession. I suppose we'd have seen aerospace connectors before now if that's where they'd been going. There's no doubt that this will be a bit better than OEM arrangements (do I get the understatement of the year award for that one?) and to be honest there's no tangible benefit to be had for a road car, but you know, Binky & all that.

We've had summer now, so I don't suppose they'll be in too much of a rush to get things running. Perhaps they'll benefit from the colder ambient temperatures that characterise a typical July/August in this part of the world. I wonder what 400bhp+ is going to be like on wet leaves? My guess is that they'll be replacing seat upholstery more frequently that changing tyres...

Do we have an engine start? Supposed to be yesterday, I think.

Not heard anything yet and since Richard said Ep. 35 would be a July release, he's seemingly had no end of things not going to plan not least going down with covid as well as Mrs B still off her feet due to the broken femur.

Rebuild sounds like it's been challenging despite the full dry build

Still got fingers crossed for Friday 30th though

After failing miserably on Friday, today we're going to have another go at bringing the mini to life.

...and now we have a start! Yay!

Wonder if there will be time to finish and publish Episode 35 by the end of the week?

COVID has a lot to answer for!
Richard contracting the lurgy and losing his voice may have put pay to a July update cry

Ah - is it another "43rd of the month" date heading our way d'ya think? Personally, I think a gravelly commentary voice would be pretty apt considering where we all are. Or ask Matt Lucas to narrate in the style of Bozo? - "Start the engine but don't start the engine. Remain alert but stay in bed. Get the funk out but leave it in. Make the noise silently" etc

Two episodes in a week you say? Okay then. Allows us more flexibility in telling the story. Episode 35 on Saturday 7th and episode 36 on Saturday 14th. (Patrons get them on the Friday)

To be honest boys I’m getting totally ducked off with this promise of episodes and then nothing turning up. Either post the episode or don‘t tell us one is due. Post episode 36 as soon as you like but stop winding us up about it!!!! I absolutely love Project Binky but now I’m also really pissed off with it. You are alienating your audience, my plea is cease and desist!!!

Cheers!

you do know they have no reason to post any videos at all that other they want to. it's not TV where you pay a subscription and demand content.

Building cars takes a very long time. forget the TV shows where they are done in a week, that isn't real. then add the factor of setting up everything for filming which probably has added well over double the amount of time it would have taken, and then the editing to get it loaded to youtube. (not to mention Covid)

just be happy they are willing to carry on with the build as it has always been and post the content on youtube for us to enjoy. biggrin

I was about to say Russ, the internet isn't for you but maybe the rest of the internet is!

Project Binky probably isn't strictly for the internet but it shows more what real life is all about - Russ, life is about more than just providing content for you! chill out and get an actual life!

BOM continue!

Boys I’m just excited to see the next episode! What winds me up is the impression that we were going to get episode 35 last week (check) and episode 36 THIS week! I’d rather not know when 36 is going to show up than be given false hope!! Keep up the splendid work boys! Oh! And what’s happening with the Cargot?

Cheers!

Russ

Hope you're feeling happier now Russ.
Episode 37 will be next and will probably be released some time after originally indicated, optimism being what it is.

If they set out to build the best Mini ever, then I think it is fair to say that they are well on the way, if not there already. Even without wheels. Or glass. Or a dash. Or an integrated immobiliser.
