re: "The Exhaust causality"
(Preview)
Hi Guys, A question, since you have to bin the distributor (who needs 19th century tech anyway). Where will you get the cam and crank signals?. I'm guessing there had to be a cam/crank sensors for the injection but were they inside the distributor or separate? I'm across the pond and haven't yet found...

Following a cheese-induced nightmare, I have come to the realisation that we need to know what's under the sheet.... It clearly isn't a Christmas tree, a kettle or Michele Mouton....so what is it?

How to weld a mug

Very nicely done guys. Actually that went down even better than you think because my mate has lost the handle off his BOM mug so I sent him a link to your "instructional video"; I think it was well received

So, what is left?
(Preview)
For fun I made a small list in no special order of what is left to be done to Binky. It seems short. Feel free to make suggestions of steps I've missed. Fuel tank. - Most likely pre-made unit with pump and filter installed. Although probably slightly modified. Speaker holes. - :) Fuel lines/pipes. - Plu...

Air con, rear wiper and other refinements?
(Preview)
With so little space for even the most essential components (like a sump), is there any scope at all for air con to be fitted to the car? Minis sold in Japan from around 1994 had an air conditioning system fitted to them. God knows how they fitted it all in under the bonnet, and the interior parts of the syst...

Heaters, wiper motors, Jig Thoughts
(Preview)
Having built and rallied four minis from age 17 to 30 something, and modifying many mini heaters to get better window demisting whilst rallying and trying to get better wipers too, I am hoping that Nik and Richard have done their usual great job of improving what they touch when it comes to Binkys heat...

4wd Running Gear and Engine into new body
(Preview)
Come on guys, what is the holdup? I've just seen Clarkson sort this in a matter of a couple of days... Admittedly it was not quite as neat as Binky, and there may have been a couple of things that needed replacing (such as the original body) and disappointingly there was not a CAD template in sight. Or an an...

Exhaust heat !
(Preview)
I understand the concerns for space within the mini, however there is a rather hot 3inch exhaust under the car would it not be a bad idea to heat shield wrap the exhaust? considering how thin the floor may or may not be. also it promotes better heat into the turbo if you only do it from the block to the turbo,...

Final drive ratio
(Preview)
Seeing as the boys are going to run 13" wheels, my thinking is the tyre circumference will be rather less than that of oem Celica tyres. This means revving the nuts off the Toyota engine at normal motorway speeds. Makes for nice acceleration but also increased petrol consumption and a lower top speed...

right, I know we are a ways off yet, but I'm pretty certain that Nick and Richard have already planned this, BUT, what is planned for the lights? i know that you are "just a couple of blokes ****ing about", but I am curious as to how much forethought and planning went into Binky BEFORE you fired up the grinders? Brake Servo
(Preview)
The Celica had power assisted brakes, I assume the Mini did not. Question is, will the transplanted Celica brakes work well enough without power assist, or are there plans to mount a remote servo unit or two? I was thinking at minimum boost the front brake circuit, but given it has rear disks they may wa...

Parts List
(Preview)
I'd be curious to see a list of what parts are beign used and from what donor vehicles they have come from if not new aftermarket parts. I'm learning loads, so it would be interesting to see where the sum of the parts are assembled from. Where are the window mechanisms from, where did the fuel pumps come...

To help prevent it catching fire.....
(Preview)
Shouldn't the new (snazzy and bijou) alloy tank have an earth strap - to protect
against Pump/Sender/Wiring problems which may cause the tank to float (!) up to 12V?
After all, it is sat on foam strips, and that sort of "heat damage" won't buff out with T-Cut....
