Exhaust heat !
(Preview)
I understand the concerns for space within the mini, however there is a rather hot 3inch exhaust under the car would it not be a bad idea to heat shield wrap the exhaust? considering how thin the floor may or may not be. also it promotes better heat into the turbo if you only do it from the block to the turbo,...

Final drive ratio
(Preview)
Seeing as the boys are going to run 13" wheels, my thinking is the tyre circumference will be rather less than that of oem Celica tyres. This means revving the nuts off the Toyota engine at normal motorway speeds. Makes for nice acceleration but also increased petrol consumption and a lower top speed...

A Bright Idea
(Preview)
right, I know we are a ways off yet, but I'm pretty certain that Nick and Richard have already planned this, BUT, what is planned for the lights? Anyone who has owned/currently owns a classic mini will tell you that the headlights are... well crap. What then we ask ourselves is planned for when darkness...

Planning
(Preview)
i know that you are "just a couple of blokes ****ing about", but I am curious as to how much forethought and planning went into Binky BEFORE you fired up the grinders? It can't all be on the fly engineering, can it? Thanks for all of the time and effort you have put into this project so far. Most entertaini...

Brake Servo
(Preview)
The Celica had power assisted brakes, I assume the Mini did not. Question is, will the transplanted Celica brakes work well enough without power assist, or are there plans to mount a remote servo unit or two? I was thinking at minimum boost the front brake circuit, but given it has rear disks they may wa...

Parts List
(Preview)
I'd be curious to see a list of what parts are beign used and from what donor vehicles they have come from if not new aftermarket parts. I'm learning loads, so it would be interesting to see where the sum of the parts are assembled from. Where are the window mechanisms from, where did the fuel pumps come...

To help prevent it catching fire.....
(Preview)
Shouldn't the new (snazzy and bijou) alloy tank have an earth strap - to protect
against Pump/Sender/Wiring problems which may cause the tank to float (!) up to 12V?
After all, it is sat on foam strips, and that sort of "heat damage" won't buff out with T-Cut....

Any other niceties planned for Binky ?

Loving the build, but I wonder if you can resist not taking the grinder to the only panel that I reckon remains untouched. . . ..the roof ! Are you tempted to go for a glass panoramic roof ? or full length Webasto style ?? or shall I get my coat ?

New person here, I'm about to watch Episode 4. Between the beginning of it all and now, has anyone suggested a plasma cutter? Might be useful with the cutting. Think of the money you'd save on cheap grinders and abrasive wheels. You could put the savings towards tea. I've done a search. You might wan...

A few question about structure strength
(Preview)
I've been watching the series a few times by now and i've learnt so much about cars, welding, and British comedy, and I cannot thank Nik and Richard enough for the series. However, i did develop a few questions watching alone as I starts to understand a bit more over time about the strength of certain par...

I started to rewatch the whole series again, and couldn't help but notice there is actually one shot with a spot welder on the screen when the first piece of shiny door post going in, but immediately it has been replaced by a dozen plug welds. Road or Track?
(Preview)
Was having a discussion earlier on another forum (sorry) And the subject got around to the use of Binky on the road, some people seem to think this is a road car. others think its a rally car. Personally I suspect its a track day car and will never be road legal due to the strict BIVA test it would need to be...

Fastest Mini? So what does Binky have to beat?
(Preview)
First off loving the build! anyway... The goal is to create one of the fastest Mini’s on the planet Ok for something to be the fastest it needs to be quantified - fastest at what? Are we just talking Minis with MOTs? Then what? Fastest 0-60? (IMHO a useless and out dated test) Fastest 1/4 mile? (better pe...

Simply put, an amazing build. I have never been so fascinating with an on the side build. Completely sympathize with having no on the side time too. 1.) Fuel tank, pump and lines. 2.)
