Project Binky

Let's play a game. Guess the kerb weight of the finished car with all fluids, winner gets a packet of chocolate HobNobs. I'm going with 1265kg

Just wondering if when it hits the road next year/decade and everyone decides to trade in their Valkyrie's etc to get the true hyper-fear experience, what would they have to pay for a Binky clone? I assume all the CAD has been saved to a nice dry drawer in the garage.

The Mini donor car looks to be circa 1980 (I anticipate a VERY precise correction from Mini afficianados here.....). I think the Celica GT4 donor car for the drive train and suspension is the ST185 which was made from 1989-93. Would Nik 'n Rick be using the VIN plate off the Mini donor car, or will it si...

You went on and on about the carpet you were using but never mentioned a brand or any details. Could you provide some info? Thanks!

I really did think that lockdown would give an opportunity for the chaps to make leaps and bounds of progress with Binky and that we'd have an episode a week to help keep(?) us sane. Presumably they are largely at the mercy of the paint shop and its ability to get supplies of rainbow paint etc, although th...

Who else would like to see that go down???

I watched a couple of videos interviewing Gordon Murray about his new car and was interested in the similarities/differences in concept between his effort and the Leyland/Toyota. First off, he's opted to go without any form of safely turbine device - which must be quite worrying for the prospectiv...

I've now binge watched 31 episodes of Project Binky. Lovely, am going through the merch to see what takes my fancy. Hi BOM, Have you a fitted a crankshaft vibration damper. I thought it was deleted when you machined auxiliary drive system. I have a quick question, With all the viewers you have now, from all over the world, do you two feel like celebrities in any way? I'm from Canada, but I'm over in Derby working on a project for Rolls Royce for a few months, I've seen all your videos multiple times, it's great viewing while I'm stuck inside...

It's starting to look quite fabulous. There will not be one space cm^3 in that engine bay though and I fear the windscreen will melt when those punched vents start ducting the bay cooling air through them. Here's one car that will never have frozen washer jets (or a cat lying on the bonnet after parking u...

At least 2 new Binky videos this week... Escargot mobile medical centre done by the end of the month... Nick demonstrates how to make portable ventilators from defunct angle grinders? Well, maybe not the last one.

Tell you what folks, that colour chosen for the powder coating looked very retro to me, put me in mind of some of the original Mk1 Mini colours. Wonder if we have been given a bit of a hint here?

I spotted on the Facebook page that the boys are after one of these. I checked behind the sofa but alas found only an old boiled sweet. The Tamiya one I have looks a bit small - and I need it. Anyway, I guess that means that engine rebuild time is upon us. Which is nice. I'm guessing 10 episodes, with at least...

Unless things are a bit different over there, you have been showing a MAP sensor for an NA car. I would think that you would want at least a 2 BAR unit, if not a 3 BAR. Always nice to have a bit of headroom on the map, in case you just have to turn the boost up. The ECu that I was using in the rally car would not go...

Curious as to the artist of the "Getting the funk out" music. Nik and Richard's alter ego, kinda like those "Daft Punk" guys?
